With Royal Ascot, The Epsom Derby and other summer occasions around the corner, it’s time to think about what to wear and that ever so important choice of headwear.

Katja Nuutinen, a London couturier known for her alluring red carpet gowns and chic occasionwear, has launched a brand new hat collection that brings a smile to the face. The collection is a combination of popping colours and fun styles that are perfect statement pieces for Royal Ascot’s Ladies Day or The Epsom Derby, as well as more elegant cocktail and occasion hats ideal for the mother of the bride or perhaps a royal garden party.

Drawing on her experience of putting together entire outfits, Katja has designed pieces that are easy to wear with a variety of outfits and colours, making them a wardrobe staple.

All the hats are made in Katja’s Wimbledon studio where the magic happens using natural materials such as sinamay and wool felt, with gorgeous handmade silk flowers and colourful feathers adding a touch of luxury. It is important for the designer that the product is ethical and therefore Katja uses cruelty-free feathers that are either naturally shed or a by-product and all the components are sourced from British suppliers. All hat styles can be made to complement the colour of an outfit, or a unique design can be created for an individual.

In addition to couture designs and hats, Katja also has a complementing clutch bag collection made out of sumptuous silk, soft leathers and suede. These collections are also available on-line.

Says Katja: “Clients can now obtain a complete, perfectly co-ordinated outfit from our studio. The only place we’ll ever have to send them is the shoe shop as I can’t make shoes quite yet, although we are known to have tweaked a pair or two to complement a client’s outfits!”
